Udruga je osnovana 2018. godine s glavnim ciljem širenja i poticanja primjene BIM-a u Hrvatskoj. Više o ciljevima udruge BIM Hrvatska.
BIM (eng. Building Information Model/Modeling/Management) predstavlja skup tehnologija, postupaka i pravila koji omogućuje da više sudionika surađuje u projektiranju, građenju i upravljanju građevinom u virtualnom prostoru. Osnova BIM-a je BIM model.
BIM Hrvatska okuplja profesionalce hrvatske građevinske industrije, među kojima su inženjeri s višegodišnjim iskustvom u primjeni BIM-a u projektiranju, izgradnji i upravljanju građevinama.
BIM više nije nešto novo ili nešto što dolazi. On je naša sadašnjost, a sigurno i budućnost, uz manje promjene u načinu rada i suradnje.
S obzirom na mnoge široke primjene i mnoge tehnologije koje podržavaju BIM, potrebno je odrediti jasna pravila i postupke za BIM. Upravo ova činjenica je bila misao vodilja osnivača udruge koji žele svojim iskustvom pridonijeti razvoju opće primjene BIM-a u Hrvatskoj.
Udruga BIM Hrvatska pridonosi iniciranju i razvoju primjene BIM-a u Hrvatskoj na način da postavlja standarde kroz različite struke, poslove i softver, ali i da savjetuje, educira, potakne i informira o primjeni BIM-a na pravilan način. S obzirom na ciljeve, osnivanje udruge građana, kao neprofitne i nezavisne organizacije, se nametnuo kao jedini ispravni put za općekorisno djelovanje.
